Executive Team
Executive Team is comprised of ten technical and administrative staff of the Professional Accountants Organization Development (PAOD) initiative. The team manages day-to-day operations of CPA Afghanistan, leads technical work supported by the Technical Committees, and is responsible for other activities mandated under the Law.
History
2009 – The World Bank issued Accounting and Auditing Report on Observance of Standards and Codes (ROSC) for Afghanistan recommending the establishment of regulatory and institutional framework to regulate and support the accountancy profession in the country
2010 – Government-led National Steering Committee (NSC) was established to coordinate the implementation of the 2009 ROSC recommendations
2011 – The World Bank approved the Second Public Financial Management Reform Project (PFMR II) which includes the support for implementation of the ROSC recommendations
2013 – Professional Accountants Organization Development (PAOD) was established to support the project implementation and serve as the nucleus of the Afghanistan’s first professional accountancy organization (PAO)
2014–2016 – Development of the Afghanistan Accountancy Law (CPA Afghanistan Law), capacity building activities
2016 – First meeting of the transitional Afghanistan Accountancy Board (CPA Afghanistan Board)
2016 – CPA Afghanistan started using the IFAC SMO-Self Assessment and Action Plan methodology with regular review and annual updates, as well as the CAPA Maturity Model and related assessments as the benchmark for becoming strong professional accountancy organization
2017 – H.E. President Muhammad Ashraf Ghani signed the CPA Afghanistan Law on 4th of Hamal 1395 (March 4th, 2017)
2017 – Institutionalizing the CPA Afghanistan with the PAOD as the Executive Office; four technical committees and the related technical departments are set up and staffed
